As a Research Chemist at Meta, in our Optics & Display Research group (O&DR), you will play a critical role in developing AR/VR systems. You will focus on developing advanced materials, process and devices for near eye displays, and will become part of a team exploring novel concepts through design, modeling, and fast iterative prototyping. We are seeking someone who works well in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment, who communicates complex concepts clearly and succinctly, who demonstrates scientific rigor, who is unafraid to tackle new challenges, and who works well in high-ambiguity discovery phases. Research Chemist Responsibilities:

• Take a critical role in developing/identifying new materials and process for AR/VR systems.
• Design, synthesis, and characterization of organic small molecules and their solid-state phases for optics and optoelectronics systems.
• Develop and implement research agenda, apply high standards to the research and develop an ability to identify highly impactful projects in a complete and unexplored domain.

Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD or equivalent experience in Organic Chemistry or a related field.
• 1 year's experience in Organic Chemistry, Optics, AR/VR, or a related industry.
• Experience with small molecular organo-electronics and opto-electronics.
• Experience with. NMR, LC/MS, GC/MS, UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy, Fluorometry, Cyclovoltammetry, single crystal XRD.
• Experience solving analytical problems using analytic and quantitative approaches.
• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, trade-offs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.
• Research and engineering experience demonstrated via grants, fellowships, patents, internships, product development, or work experience.
